Privacy Policy

Sunnyside Rising ("Sunnyside Rising," "we," "us," or "our") is a Colorado nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 42-1989473) operating as a Scholarship Granting Organization under IRC Section 25F. Starting in 2026, the Site also accepts general charitable donations to support our mission, ahead of the federal Section 25F tax credit, which opens for eligible contributions on January 1, 2027. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through sunnysiderising.org (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. This policy is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly. When you fill out our Community Interest Form, make a donation, or otherwise contact us, we may collect:

• Name and contact details (email address, phone number, mailing address)
• Whether you're registering as a donor, a school/educator, or a homeschool family
• School, district, or county information
• Donation details, such as the amount, date, and school or fund you designate, and whether the gift is one-time or recurring
• Billing and payment information you provide when donating (see "Payment information" below)
• Any additional notes or messages you choose to share
• Any information you send us by email (for example, to hello@sunnysiderising.org)

Payment information. When you make a charitable donation on the Site, your payment is processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Stripe collects your card or bank details directly: Sunnyside Rising does not receive or store your full card or account number. We do receive confirmation of the transaction (amount, date, and donor name/email) so we can send you a receipt and keep accurate donation records.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate our Site and to understand how visitors find and use it. This includes analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) and, where applicable, advertising and conversion-tracking tools (such as Google Ads, including tools used in connection with the Google Ad Grants program) that help us measure the effectiveness of our outreach. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and referring website. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and manage ad personalization through Google Ads Settings.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your questions and follow up on your registration
• Register and verify donors, schools, and homeschool families for the Section 25F program (which opens for tax-credit-eligible contributions January 1, 2027)
• Process charitable donations made in 2026 and beyond, and send you a donation confirmation and tax-deductibility receipt
• Send you email updates about the program, the tax credit, and your registration or donation status
• Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our services
• Understand how people find and use the Site, and measure the effectiveness of our outreach and advertising
• Meet our legal, tax, and audit obligations as a nonprofit and Scholarship Granting Organization

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to operate our organization and the Section 25F program, including with:

• Stripe, our payment processor, which securely processes donation transactions and stores your payment details on our behalf (Stripe's Privacy Policy)
• Peak Logic, our technology partner, which builds and operates the platform that powers our website and donor/school registration and management
• Google, through Google Workspace (business email and internal operations), Google Analytics (Site analytics), and Google Ads/Ad Grants (advertising and conversion tracking)
• Our banking partner, which holds contributed funds in segregated, school-specific accounts and helps us pay approved vendors directly
• Professional advisors (such as our accountants or attorneys) and regulators, when required by law or to protect our legal rights

Each of these partners is only permitted to use your information to provide services to us, or, in the case of analytics and advertising tools, to help us understand and improve our own Site and outreach, not for their own independent marketing purposes.

Data retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as needed to operate the program, respond to your inquiries, and satisfy our legal, tax, and independent-audit obligations as a nonprofit. Donation and financial records are kept for as long as required under IRS recordkeeping rules and our annual independent audit. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we never store your full card or bank account number ourselves.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you email updates, at any time by emailing hello@sunnysiderising.org. We'll honor reasonable requests as quickly as we can. You can also control cookies and analytics/advertising tracking through the browser and ad-settings tools described above.

Sunnyside Rising is a nonprofit organization, and most state consumer privacy laws (including the Colorado Privacy Act) exempt nonprofits from their formal requirements. We nonetheless aim to honor the spirit of these rights for anyone who contacts us.

Children's privacy

This Site is intended for adults: donors, school administrators, and homeschooling parents or guardians. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the Site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our organization, technology, and the Section 25F program evolve. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we make changes.
